The meeting was called to order at 11:21am by WSPR President John Stark.
It was established that we had a quorum present –as outlined in the WSPR bylaws.
Secretary Kerry Swanson distributed minutes of the 11/6/2001 meeting. Minutes were reviewed and approved unanimously.
President John Stark gave a report on WSPR first year activities, including building the WSPR website, participation in the PRRO awards, NPR consultations, A-Reps planning and participation along with NPR pricing and communications issues, involvement with U:SA, development of the regional conference.
Wayne Roth, KUOW commented and it was affirmed by others on the great job John has done in his reports from the NPR board meetings to the WSPR reps.
Treasurer Eric Jones submitted a financial report indicating the WSPR account had an ending balance of $14,509.26.
It was suggested that formal invitations be sent by the WSPR board to individual station in California to join Western States Public Radio. Discussion ensued about how such an invitation be received by California Public Radio. However the consensus was that there is currently a CPR station already a member of WSPR as well. There as also been interest from other CPR stations.
It was proposed that the WSPR fall meeting be held in Phoenix Arizona in 2003. It was seconded and approved.
Discussion ensued about having informal WSPR meetings as part of the A-Reps meeting in March 2003 and also at the Public Radio Conference in New Orleans May 2003. The purpose of these meetings would be to offer consultation and reports on where WSPR is on various issues.
A suggestion was that NAB could leverage taking advantage of outside participants that could also come to WSPR should we have our meetings in conjunction with that conference. Discussion ensued, it was suggested that instead we might consider using WSPR funds to bring outside people to our regular meetings.
Vice President Ron Kramer brought up a resolution to Jon Schwartz and Jim
Paluzzi for their recent service to the NPR board and to formally acknowledge
their contributions: the resolution
reads:

The motion seconded and the resolution passed unanimously.
President John Stark remarked that the new NPR board is represented largely by non-WSPR stations. He stated that WSPR need to be involved and participate in the national system.
A suggestion came about WSPR dues could be reviewed and perhaps set at less than the current $300 membership. The board agreed to take that suggestion under advisement.
