Western States Public Radio
Resolution
Whereas,
the establishment of a Public Broadcasting Political Action Fund
(PAC) has been proposed and WSPR has been invited to comment upon that
proposal, and
Whereas,
WSPR has consulted with its membership regarding this proposal,
Now,
Therefore, Be it Resolved that the Board of Directors of Western States Public
Radio expresses its view that the establishment of a PAC associated with public
radio would be contrary to the goals and interests of public radio stations and
discourages any such undertaking, and
Be
It Further Resolved that, in the event elements of the public television system
desire to establish a PAC, the Board of Directors of WSPR believes that the name
of any such entity clearly identify its association with “public television”
rather than “public broadcasting” and
Be
It Further Resolved that the Board of Directors of WSPR encourages NPR to act on
behalf of the interests of public radio stations by taking appropriate steps to
accomplish the goals of this resolution.
