Western States Public Radio

Resolution

Whereas, the establishment of a Public Broadcasting Political Action Fund  (PAC) has been proposed and WSPR has been invited to comment upon that proposal, and

Whereas, WSPR has consulted with its membership regarding this proposal,

Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved that the Board of Directors of Western States Public Radio expresses its view that the establishment of a PAC associated with public radio would be contrary to the goals and interests of public radio stations and discourages any such undertaking, and

Be It Further Resolved that, in the event elements of the public television system desire to establish a PAC, the Board of Directors of WSPR believes that the name of any such entity clearly identify its association with “public television” rather than “public broadcasting” and

Be It Further Resolved that the Board of Directors of WSPR encourages NPR to act on behalf of the interests of public radio stations by taking appropriate steps to accomplish the goals of this resolution.
