Western State Public Radio Board of Directors
Conference Call
April 25, 2008

In attendance: Jon Schwartz, Karen Holp, Paul Stankavich, John Hess and Beth Warren

I. NPR’s participation in WSPR Fall Conference:

The board discussed the possibility of incorporating NPR into this fall’s WSPR conference. The board identified several breakout sessions that could be moved or modified to accommodate NPR’s participation.

It is NPR’s desire to shape an agenda for the WSPR conference that is beneficial to both WSPR and NPR. To help facilitate the on-going discussions with NPR, Chairman Stankavich will contact Dana Rehm requesting her participation at the next WSPR board conference call.

II. US: Alliance’s request for possible endorsement of “Principles” document.

The board discussed issuing a formal endorsement of US:A’s “Principles” draft. The board felt that the document was acceptable standing on its own and no formal endorsement was needed at this time.

III. Localism Survey to WSPR members:

Chairman Stankavich reported that 20 WSPR member stations had responded to the brief survey regarding the localism issue before the FCC. The responses from the survey will be used by Dow Lones to draft a formal response to the FCC from WSPR.

IV. Other discussion:

Over 90 invoices went out the last week to stations affiliated with WSPR.

Chairman Stankavich will be in contact with WSPR board members regarding our next meeting.

Respectfully submitted: John Hess- Secretary, WSPR
